We've had quite a week!

After Lillian came home from the hospital on Tuesday, I realized that I wasn't feeling very well myself and wasn't recovering properly and I ended up being admitted back to the hospital for IV antibiotics.

Unfortunately, that meant that Michael had to go back to Philadelphia without us :( It began to seem like we were never going to be able to leave.

Lillian is doing really well now. At her follow-up from her hospital admission the pediatrician was very happy with her progress. She was 8 days old and already 4 ounces over her birth weight, which is excellent for a breastfed baby! Lillian is so easy so far - she eats and she sleeps quite well at night and sleeps quite happily in her bassinet, which Audrey never did.

I am also doing much better. I follow up with my doctor on Wednesday and we anticipate that I will be cleared to travel at that point.

With everything that has happened we decided that I would fly up with the girls on Friday. Although I'm glad to avoid the 13 hour drive, I'm slightly anxious about flying alone with a two-week-old and a two-year-old! Luckily I had lots of practice flying with Audrey, and with the Baby Bjorn carrier I think I will be okay.

Audrey has been having a little bit of a hard time with the stress of us going in and out of the hospital, but she has still been great with Lillian. She is very proud and asks to hold her every day. She says that she "will be very careful," and is so sweet. I got some good photos of the two of them together this morning. I can't wait to get them to Philadelphia where we can get her back into a routine and some stability.

Wish us luck wrapping up everything in Kentucky this week and making it to Philly on Friday!

Audrey passed out on the bathroom floor while she was waiting for me to finish my shower last night. She was totally worn out and did not enjoy the shower that we had to take after she put half a bottle of hand soap in her hair!

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

Audrey and Lillian are getting used to being at the hospital. Lillian was admitted last night due to her bilirubin getting quite high - 22.5. Audrey was a great big sister and was quite concerned about and protective of Lillian. When the doctor was examining Lillian last night, Lillian was crying and Audrey kept telling the doctor, "She doesn't like that!"

Audrey doesn't seem fazed about us being at the hospital, the only part she doesn't like is when I don't get to come home. She has fun exploring the hospital with Daddy and bringing me treats :)

I was pretty upset about bringing Lillian back to the hospital last night, I was so worried, but she has responded amazingly well to the treatment and we should be back to the girls' Papa's house this evening. Then we need to follow up at the pediatrician's office on Thursday, and THEN - finally on to Philadephia! Hopefully we will be in our new home by Friday night.

We had a visit with Audrey's friend Kennick last night just before we found out we had to come back to the hospital, they had so much fun playing together. Audrey is going to miss Kennick!

Lillian Rose has arrived! 2/09/2012

Lillian Rose made her long-awaited appearance just after midnight on Wednesday night. She was 7 lb 6.5 oz and 20 inches long - almost exactly average sized, which was funny because everyone seemed to think she was going to be small!

We had a bit of a rough delivery and Lillian didn't want to eat at first, but has been nursing like a champ ever since. She is a little jaundiced but the doctor was happy with her progress and we went home on Friday. On Saturday she had only lost 2 oz from her birth weight, which is wonderful for a breastfed baby!

Audrey has been so excited & is handling being a big sister really well! She was so happy to come to the hospital to meet Lillian and was very proud to hold her for the first time. Michael said she marched all over the hospital telling people that she had a little girl and that she was a big sister. She has had almost no jealousy and is being wonderful - hopefully she keeps it up :)

We've been pretty busy keeping both our girls happy, but it's been fun! Hopefully we will head to Philadelphia on Tuesday. I can't wait to finally settle down in our new home!

Here are some photos - I will try to update soon!

Audrey is excited to be a big sister!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Audrey's little sister, Lillian...she should be here any day now!

Her "due date" is February 6th, but so far Lillian seems to be content to hang out and is doing well. Thankfully I feel pretty good for the most part, so apart from our excitement to meet her, I am okay with waiting. It's funny to think that at this point in my last pregnancy, Audrey was already two months old!

Audrey has been very interested in talking about Lillian and is very proud that she is a big sister. She isn't too interested in my belly, although she has been asking to feel Lillian a little more lately. A couple of months ago she did have a moment of panic when she thought my belly was going to pop, but after I explained to her that was not going to happen she managed to calm down :)

Audrey likes to talk about what she will do with Lillian, and what she will "teach" her. Recently Audrey said that she was going to hold Lillian's hand and that she was going to teach her to laugh. It's very sweet.

She has also been great about sharing with Lillian, if something is too small for her - which has happened a lot recently as she is really going through a growth spurt - Audrey suggests that Lillian can wear it. With all the clothes that Audrey had we have had to buy almost nothing for Lillian!

Last week Audrey said "I can't wait for Lillian to come." And we all feel the same. I am looking forward to finally having our family together and settling in to our new home in Philadelphia. I know it's been tough for all of us and it will be a relief to be together again!

And just for fun, here is a video of Audrey yesterday being silly, dancing and singing :)
